Pietro Scalia and just about every editor

This course offers an introduction to the basic concepts of film editing.  The emphasis is on classical Hollywood-style continuity editing, but other styles may be explored as well.  Students will use Avid Media Composer to edit short scenes from a variety of genres.  Because editing is usually the final stage of production, students will need to be aware of other aspects of film production that impact the editor’s task; thus, we will also cover basic camera techniques and explore the relationship of the script to the editing process.
